I’m currently with Navigators from whom I have never claimed but they are getting pricy. The various family racing dinghies (Topper and Graduate)are with Craftinsure but I am not sure what they are like with bigger boats.
So, I’m thinking of changing the Sonata to them as well………………does anyone have any experience of what they are like to deal with or is there anyone else worth trying??

Thanks for the info………..I guess having the same broker as the really really Wicked Wookie would simplify matters in the event of accidents!!

Mark,
Just to confirm that I’d prefer NOT to have another Helensburgh incident either !!!
I’ve had insurance for Raz with Noble Marine for the last 4 years since Craftinsure told me they didn’t insure racing boats. This was after full rig replacement though.
Due to pay them their annual renewal which is roughly equivalent of the Nationals entry fee + 30%.
Prefer not to talk in pounds in case the boss is looking.
Can discuss over an orange juice in Tarbert.

Hi Mark
I use GJW direct (Groves John and Westrup) I have not needed to make a claim but a friend of mine did and he had no poroblems at all. The area covered is Channel Islands and adjacent French coast, I race locally all year round, the only restriction I have is that I cannot sail at night single handed, apart from that everything is covered. Premium is £204.00 per year. contact details, email insure@gjwltd.co.uk Tel 01514738000.
Hope this helps
Best regards

Hi Everyone
We also use GJW and they have been great, especially as we broke our mast racing last year and the claim process was very good and quick

Hi Mark
Craftinsure are more than happy to quote for insuring your Sonata – please contact me on the helpline 0845 2607 888 for a chat (I co-own “Exposition” down on the Medway where we have 30 Sonatas).
Typically we look for a premium of around £165 for full racing risks cover depending on the value of boat, trailer/cradle and equipment and you can book your cover directly online at www.craftinsure.com if you prefer, where the Sonata sits in our “Racing Yacht” picklist.
Best regards

Hi Mark
I use Giles Insurance Brokers in Irvine, A nice chap by the name of Jim Bell who is there Marine Manager sorts it for me. This year it was with Groves John and Westrup but i am sure it was someone else last year.
I cant honestly say whether he is cheap or not as I didn’t really shop around, I just went to him as my uncle and brother have both used him for years and he is very easy to deal with. See you at Scottish if you want to compare notes
