As far as I know, my Mk I Sonata is still using its original mast. At the after end of the foot is a large screw with, surprisingly, what appears to be a screwdriver slot. This screw is partially protruding, and cannot easily be moved, i.e. it is not fully home. This worries me, but before I try to force anything, can anybody describe how the base of the original mast is supposed to be fixed. Are there any drawings or pictures available?

the best way to remove it is to unscrew the foot from the mast and take the mast of then un bolt the foot and base from the deck and put it in a vice to remove to screw you can put as much force on it then.
there are a number of diffrent types of mast foot so i cant tell you what it should look like.
