North East Sonata’s follow up???

4th July 2010

All NE Sonatas and anyone else intrested in joining us.

Following the undoubted success of the Northerns at Whitby, Whos up for a re-run at either Sunderland or Scarborough over the August Bank Holiday. We would enjoy sailing against the largest fleet possible and dont mind which venue. Who’s up for it?? Chase up boats that didnt do the Northerns from your club, and post early replys to this website, not much time to organise!!!

Regards

Dave

HI Dave

Unfortunately won’t be able to make this as we have Abersoch Keelboat Week until the friday – sonatas welcome of course!

Any thoughts on Inlands this year – Windermere, Coniston or Ullswater or even Rutland???

Hi Dave

I am one of the guys off B.O.B and we go to the Scarborough Regatta over that weekend.

There are 6 SYC boats and last year there was two of us from Whitby.

We will try and get the other two to come along.

SYC always do a good 3 days sailing with good crack in the club house afterwards.

Last year there was a couple of Squibs in our class but we have been assured that there will only be Sonata’s this year.

Cheers

Andy, Looks like we will be coming to Scarborough then. Any idea what the lift in/out arrangements are likely to be, nothing on club website yet. I will make some calls to see if I can encourage anyone else.

Dave

Bill the guy who was looking at your mast in Whitby has some good contact at SYC.

I will get him to findout what the score is.

We just sail down a day or two before hand, that might be one option, sail from Whitby

Hi Guys,

This shows up the North/South divide. On this weekend we have the Sonata Eastern Champs at Burnham on Crouch. It’s on the website.

I have organised for the Sonatas to race special courses around the Crouch on Sat and Sun, technical races, up and across the entrance to the Roach. On Monday, we go downriver as far as we can and do a long-distance. We end up in the Crouch Yacht Club, (the East End villans place) with a band, food and, I hope, a great party. Currently, I am looking at me and the band standing in the CYC on Monday night with very few bods around me. Think about it. I have a great party planned. All I need is more people.

As I came to Whitby, albiet, not very effectively, I think you guys ought to consider supporting me in Burnham.

Dave, the rest of you, think about it. This weekend is the start of Burnham Week, a great east Coast Event, which you can stay to and enjoy, or not. We will be there.

Big sea and wind, Northerlies

We are not sure if the Whitby boats can get down there on Friday.

………..surely you can get there, it would be the getting back that would be difficult??!!!!!!!!

Actually XC Weather for Friday looks more promising with westerly 9-12 knots surely making it a nice sail. Unfortunately for me Saraband will be spending the weekend on the drive in Ayrshire as a combination of;

1) Not a Scottish bank holiday……..so would have to use a day holiday and also can’t get kids out of school without permission

2) Too many brownie points used already doing Kip, Tarbert, Helensburgh, Whitby and West Highland Week

3) Buying another dinghy

4) Race Officer duty at Prestwick SC, meaning I can’t sail my new boat!!

5) etc

Hope you guys all have a great regatta and that hopefully the Whitby boats can get down to Scarborough…..is Bluetack still due to attend?

Regards

Mark
