Chris Fisher
Hi,
I have a 1979 Sonata (Opus 2), puchased in September 2005. She came with a Dolphin inboard engine, which I have now removed. The boat still has the original outboard bracket tracks on the transom but unfortunately she did not come with the outboard bracket. I have discovered that many boats have a Plastimo bracket and bits for this item are still available. Opus, however, does not appear to have Plasimo fittings and there are no markings of any description on the alloy tracks. Could anyone give me a clue as to possible manufacturers of my bracket or should I just bin it and fit a suitable alternative?? Any advice and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Chris Fisher

Hi, Different question on the same subject. Does anyone know what the max HP which the outboard bracket can cope with?
Chris Fisher
Could you upload a photo of your bracket fittings to the bulletin board – somebody might recognise them. The class rules just specify that “outboard motor mounting rails are permitted” and they don’t specify what kind, so you could fit an alternative type if that turns out to be the only option.

Many thanks for your suggestion. I have tried to upload a picture of the transom rails, which are 40 cms high by 30cms apart (measured to outer edges) but I keep getting an Internal server error 500. I’ll try again later!

I believe you should now be able to view the transom rails on the attached picture

HI,
THE CURRENT VERSION OF THE PLASTIMO OUTBOARD BRACKET SPECIFIES A MAXIMUM OF 10 HP AND A WEIGHT OF 30KG. I’M NOT SURE WHETHER THE CURRENT OFFERING IS THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL SONATA SPEC.
