Hi,
I am a new sonata owner, and have started racing this season. Problem is my boat is not fully sorted for racing at the moment, and i thought i would seek the advice of others before blowing my cash on the wrong stuff…
What fittings are recommended for main halyard, genoa halyard, kite halyard, kicker, backstay, cunningham and pole uphaul?
and where roughly should i position them on the deck?
At the moment i only have clam cleats which i dont like as they tend to slip when the breeze is up.
Cheers

Have a troll through all the photo’s on this website as nearly all have good/similar racing set-ups. Read Steve’s tips on this website MANDATORY! for a fast Easy to sail racing boat.
Come up the Clyde to the Sunday’s Autumn Series on the East patch (see HSC website) and there will be about 10 Sonata’s to have a spy at.

firstly change all haylards to rope,
we dont use a pole downhaul as nor do alot of racers.
now for the position of gear its hard to say your best of looking at other boats at your club then arranging them to you and your crew as if your short handed you will want all ropes to aft as if well crewed your want the kicker to the rail for the middle man to play
