I am looking to redo the suspension on my trailer except I am not sure as to what size of suspension units to put on it. Does anyone have any recommendations? Will for instance 1.5 tons be enough or would I get away with suspension units rated to just over a ton? I do not cover big distances towing it.

I trail with a single axle trailer for increased manouvreability. This was constructed using a Peak axle rated at 1800Kg. The hitch is rated at 1750 Kg. With the sonata weighing in excess of 1100 Kg with equipment on board and the trailer weighing from about 400 Kg the above gives a reasonable margin. To be legal the gross weight of the trailer must not exceed the rated capacity of the suspension/axle.
