The Cruiser winter series at Thornbury Sailing Club starts on the 2nd of January. Approx 12 yachts compete each year including two Sonatas. Cruiser racing throughout the summer at TSC involves legs of 5 miles or more but the winter series is round the dinghy cans and can be very close and exciting especially as the tide runs at between 4 and 6 knots in this part of the Bristol Channel and the only way out of it is to hug the shoreline. Both Sonatas here are lifting keelers and that lets us get much closer in. Now that I’ve found this web site Ill keep you posted on the many interesting goings on in this south western outpost.
